DKM - Reiki SymbolThis is a featured page

As the traditional mantras of the system of Reiki are considered as sacred by many, pseudonyms are used in The Reiki Sourcebook rather than the true mantras. The pseudonym for the fourth traditional mantra is the initials DKM.

The kanji of the true mantra of DKM is actually Symbol 4.

The main modern characteristic of DKM is as the Master Symbol and it is spoken three times in conjunction with Symbol 4.

The main traditional characteristic is Empowerment. In Japan, the mantra is not necessarily used in conjunction with the symbol. The early teachings of Mikao Usui claim that DKM develops a Reiki practitioner’s true nature.
This mantra is not used only within Mikao Usui’s teachings. It can be found in some Japanese martial arts as well as in Mikkyô, Shugendô, and some of the new religions like Shunmei.
