Founder of modern karate. He is said to have known Mikao Usui. Shinpei Goto knew both Gichin Funakoshi (he wrote a calligraphic work for Gichin Funakoshi’s first book in 1922) and Mikao Usui. In 1922 Mikao Usui moved his seat of learning to Tôkyô, where Gichin Funakoshi taught and Shinpei Goto lived.
