The hara is the foundation of the Japanese energetic system. Within this system, called The Three Diamonds, are two other energetic centers; one is at the head and the other is at the heart.
The hara is like a battery that can be recharged through physical and spiritual techniques. Energy is stored at this point. From here it expands throughout the entire body. It is connected to Earth energy.
In Mikao Usui’s and the Usui Reiki Ryôhô Gakkai’s teachings many techniques are known to stimulate the hara centers. This is not unique in itself as the hara is an innate element of Japanese philosophy and culture. Whether practicing go (a Japanese game), sadô (flower arrangement), or budô (martial arts), the focus is on the hara.
