Many Reiki practitioners struggle with the concept of whether they are healers or not. A basic principle of the system of Reiki is that everyone and everything is a natural healer. Mikao Usui is quoted in the Reiki Ryôhô Hikkei as saying, ‘Every existence has healing power’. The system of Reiki teaches how to bring awareness and strength to that quality. Yet a practitioner never states that he/she heals someone as it is not the practitioner that is doing the healing. The practitioner facilitates healing but the responsibility to heal always remains in the hands of the client.
