The Imperial Rescript was written by the
Meiji Emperor in 1890 and is an edict that became a fundamental Japanese moral code until the end of World War II.
Kanô Jigorô, the founder of jûdô, also used this text as a moral code in his teachings. There are claims that he was an acquaintance of Mikao Usui.
