An attunement is a ritual performed on students (often on their back and front while they are seated) by Reiki teachers. This ritual is generally performed as an individual attunement meaning that the teacher completes the attunement on each student individually before moving to the next student. With the advent of large class sizes some teachers began to line students up and walk down the front of the line — performing the first part of the attunement and then walking down the back of the line — completing the back.
Some teachers have expressed concern that the individual energetic link between teacher and student is broken or weakened by this ‘group’ method.
