(Japanese) A posthumous Buddhist name.
Also called hômyô. It is a posthumous Buddhist name given to the soul of the newly departed person by the priest at a funeral.
Originally it was a Buddhist name given to devout believers who took the Buddhist precepts.
Each sect has its own way of giving kaimyô, but as a rule it is made up of several kanji.
Mikao Usui’s kaimyo is Reizan-in Shuyo Tenshin Koji.
