An ancient Indian language created over 2000 years ago. It is the language of Hinduism, the Vedas and classical Indian literature but it is only used for religious purposes today. Some elements of Buddhism can be traced back to their Sanskrit origins.
The origin of the Japanese symbol called kiriku can be traced back to the Sanskrit meditation symbol called hrih. Symbol 2 in the system of Reiki appears to be derived from the kiriku.
